I think my chronicles of our adventures in homeschooling will soon become t in-depth enough that they’ll require their own filter. I imagine the bulk of it won’t be of much interest to most people. If you’re interested in reading about our homeschooling journey, lemme know and I’ll you to the filter.

I am interested, though also conflicted. But I find your thoughts on it very useful and intriguing. For instance, you actually made me want to see that Singapore math booklet or whatever it was, to see how its approach differed. And I don't teach math and never have and never will. I do recall that looking at the math textbooks most recently adopted in Oakland, all I could think was that they were trying to be "modern" and catchy and aimed at short attention spans, in graphic design terms, and I had a hard time figuring out where the teaching was and where the practice was (and eventually thinking that there wasn't near enough practice).

So add me to your filter, please, even though I am still a partisan of public education.

You don't need to be in agreement, where's the fun in that? :-D

I'm doing this primarily because I anticipate a lot more detail about homeschooling techniques, and philosophies etc. (and as much as I try to curtail my gushing about Nathaniel and Estella's progress, I imagine there will be a little of that too).

well I am not doing home schooling but I
never make filters myself, perhaps my posts
dont lend themselves to it but kinda like
to see what my friends are thinking about and
choose how much to read etc...

I am. I had written off the idea of homeschooling as something I wouldn't be any good at (assuming I had kids). But then my brother as a joke sent me some of my old report cards. I looked at them and my first reaction was something that's come out of Stuart's mouth in "Dykes to Watch Out For", "I'm not sending my kid to one of those conformity mills!" That goes for private school too. Colour me interested.

Don't filter me! I find it interesting following your adventures, and for all I know maybe someday when I adopt kids I'll have your recipe to follow!
