I’m considering trying to go raw. I don’t know how long I’ll last, though. The thought of not having cooked foods makes me want to cry. Maybe I should set a target. Maybe a goal of one month or something. Have any of you ever stopped eating cooked food? Do you know of anyone that eats strictly raw foods?

Monday morning edit: That was last night when I was feeling ambitious and health conscious. Now it's Monday morning. I'm exhausted, and I'm feeling much more realistic. Realistically, I can't see myself doing this right now. I thought I was ready, but nope. I'm not. Maybe in a few months.

*chuckles*

You are such a radical!

If it were me I'd start by seeing if I can make the odd meal raw, and see how it goes from there. Might be easier in summer? Maybe there are some library books? And there WILL be websites.

The difference between a radical person and me, is that a radical person will actually accomplish what he/she sets out to do intstead of fantasizing about it. I've edited the entry, as you can see.

What brought on the not wanting to eat cooked food? I suppose you could become a dynamo sushi chef :)

If you're looking at eating healthier you can start easily enough by limited what you buy at the grocery store. Avoid processed food as much as possible (cheeze slices can contain aluminum as a byproduct). Look at the ingrediant list on what you buy. Avoid hydrogenated vegetable oil! It's evil. Beware of the moniker of artificial and natural flavours. Often what you buy only smells like what you think. It might taste like carboard without the extra flavouring. The flavours can contain more chemicals more numerous than the rest of the ingrediant list. You can buy organic produce and baked goods. Little produce shops tend to have good deals on organic food (at least they do along commercial).

You might want to read fast food nation, if you haven't already. It's a spectacular read and details a lot of what I said above.

I've actually been toying with the idea for quite some time. I've heard that people who eat raw foods have more energy and think more clearly, and I've been feeling quite lethargic lately. I figure it's worth a shot. A month should be long enough to see at least some benefits. At any rate, I won't be doing it anytime soon, I'm just way too addicted to cooked foods.

I'll definitely read Fast Food Nation (one of these days), it's sounds like it's right up my alley. I generally tend to go for whole foods, and eschew fast foods, for the most part, although I certainly have an abundance of weaknesses when it comes to food. It's always nice to read material to inspire myself to continue making healthy food choices.
