Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...

I saw Macbeth last night http://www.bardonthebeach.org. It was fantastic. They added some interesting tribal overtones, that worked really well. And scenes with the witches...outstanding! As a teenager, I didn’t care much for Shakespearean tragedies; I much preferred the comedies. I had no appreaciation for the tragic flaws in the heros. It was my naivete. Now as an adult, I can appreciate how well Shakespeare understood ambition and hubris and jealousy. I can even see some of the qualities in myself, and I know too well how they can lead to utter ruination.

Othello is still my favorite of the tragedies, but dang! I really enjoyed last night’s performance.
