Instead of sleeping, which I should be doing, since I managed to convince E* to sleep in her own bed, I've been browsing through some random journals by clicking on various interests of mine.
I came across the journal of some seventeen year old guy living in Edmonton, and actually stopped to read a bit of it. I have the following thoughts:
1 - I have renewed faith in the public school system (he goes to Scona), if it's turning out young adults who are capable of that much introspection without being self-servingly self-depracating (did that make sense?), who are sharply witty without resorting to low-grade sarcasm, and who can plain old relate a story so well, that it makes me think "Damn. I really enjoyed that".
2 - I discovered that my old high school, Archbishop MacDonald has a gay straight alliance. It was the only Catholic high school he mentioned in his journal as having one. This is very interesting.
3 - I discovered that students at Scona are studying Kafka. Why the heck didn't I get to study Kafka in high school? I had to wait until my third year in university. It was an awesome class with an amazing prof. There were so many people that wanted to get into the class, that there were people in the hallway on the first day.
