Stinging nettle and hayfever
Apr. 16th, 2007 11:35 pmOkay, I’ll admit that my naturopath occassionally comes up with some far out suggestions. Though to be fair, I guess I’m truly the weird one for listening and following his suggestions- like today for example, when I purposely stung myself with stinging nettle because he suggested that in addition to drinking nettle tea, I might want to try getting stung by it to help alleviate my hayfever.
The strange thing is the darn plant didn’t want to sting me. I picked it - nothing. I rubbed my hand on the underside of the leaf - nothing. I rubbed the plant along my arm - still nothing. Finally, I grabbed it in my fist. YOW! Yep, that one worked. So then, I grabbed it with my other fist.
The verdict: I think it helped a bit. I haven’t had a sneezing fit, and my nose doesn’t feel like it has insects crawling up it since this morning, so maybe there is something to it afterall?
