Nov. 9th, 2003 10:19 amI just saw this ad in the Save-On-Foods flier.
Please help the Food Bank feed hungry babies:
Buy food, baby cereal, diapers, powered milk or formula and donate them at the front of your Local Save-On-Foods store.
Sponsored by: Heinz, Nestle, Pampers, Huggies, Enfamil
This makes me see red! We’re now encouraging disadvantaged mothers to care for their children in the most expensive way possible. We should be teaching them to live as frugally as possible. How about teaching them about the advantages of cloth diapers, how about encouraging them to breastfeed their babies, how about showing them how to prepare inexpensive, nutritious food from scratch.
I’m thinking I’ll donate a happy baby food grinder and a book on preparing baby foods - it’s not rocket science, I don’t really think books are necessary, but it seems that some people have been so conditioned to believe that baby food comes in little glass jars that a book might be helpful. Yeah. I think that’s what I’ll do...and of course, write a letter :-)
