Suggestions for improving public education

This is in response maeve66’s response to my previous post. I know that these suggestions would require radical changes in our education system, and may create new problems while eliminating old ones, and of course, since I have no background in education, or government, these suggestions are based purely on my own fantasies, and no empirical evidence that they would work, or even be advisble, but here’s my opinion, none-the-less.
